What is priority registration?
Priority registration opens on January 8 at 12:00 PM for Potomac School students, past campers from 2024 and 2025, and their siblings. Priority registration does not guarantee placement, as spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Programs may reach full capacity before the priority registration period ends on Thursday, January 15 at 12:00 pm.
What is the process for a camper to get off the waitlist?
The waitlist process begins when a family withdraws from a camp and a space becomes available. At that point, we will contact the first person on the waitlist. Families are asked to respond within 24 hours either accepting or declining the spot. While we typically see movement before the April 22 deadline, we cannot guarantee a spot will open. To ensure your camper has a program secured, you are welcome to register them for other options during the same weeks. If a space opens in your preferred camp, we will move your camper and transfer the funds.
What is the refund policy?
Our refund policy can be found on our Enrollment page
What should I do if my camper needs medication at camp?
Please visit our Health and Wellness page
Do you offer lunch?
Yes, we do! For details, please visit our Camp Life page.
All campers should bring a morning snack and a refillable water bottle, regardless of whether they are enrolled in lunch. Home-packed lunches are stored inside in air conditioned rooms during the camp day, though refrigeration is not available. For safety reasons, food sharing is not permitted, but, please note aware that we are not a nut-free campus.
Can campers request to be grouped with friends?
Camp is all about making new friends! During registration, campers may request to be paired with ONLY one friend. Requests for pairing must come from both families, and we will do our best to honor the request, but it is not guaranteed. We are unable to accommodate last-minute changes, group requests, or make any changes once a session or the camp week has begun.

Is there a fee for busing?
Does my camper have to ride the bus?
To support our traffic reduction commitments with neighbors and Fairfax County, all campers except rising kindergarteners are required to use our bus service. Rising kindergarteners and their siblings are the only campers eligible for carpooling. Campers who live in the nearby Evermay community may also choose to walk or bike to camp instead of using carpool or bus transportation
Can I change my bus route frequently?
What happens if I am late to pick up my camper?
Bus late pick up
If an authorized adult is not present at the bus stop at pick-up time, the camper will be brought back to campus and enrolled in Potomac Plus PM, our extended hours program, for that day. A $20.00 drop-in fee will be charged to each camper's account.
carpool and Walk/Bike Late Pick Up
Dismissal ends promptly at 3:00 pm. Campers who are not picked up by that time will be checked into Potomac Plus PM, our extended hours program, for the day. A $20.00 drop-in fee will be applied to the camper’s account.
Potomac Plus Pm Late Pick up
Potomac Plus PM runs until 5:00 pm. Caregivers arriving after 5:00 pm will be charged $10.00 for the first 10 minutes and $1.00 for each minute. Charges will be processed immediately using the credit card on file. The Potomac Plus PM staff are responsible for determining the time of a late pick up.
If a student is not picked up by 5:00 pm, we call the parents of that student. In the event that the student’s parent(s) cannot be reached within 15 minutes, we call the emergency contacts named on the student’s emergency contact information form. If neither the parents nor the emergency contacts can be reached within an hour, Summer@Potomac staff will notify Child Protective Services.
We reserve the right to terminate a student's enrollment when that student is consistently picked up late.
What if I need to pick up my camper early?
Families are asked to refrain from dropping campers late or picking up campers early unless there is an emergency. Please schedule doctor’s appointments, tutoring sessions, or any other appointments outside of camp hours.
If a camper needs to be dropped off late or picked up early please contact the appropriate camp office. Campers need to be signed in and out of the camp office when arriving late or leaving early. Campers must arrive on campus by 12:00 pm to participate in camp for the rest of the day and pick ups must occur before 2:00 pm. Once a camper is picked up from campus they may not return for the rest of the day.

Can I visit campus before the first day of camp?
Summer@Potomac is hosting an Open House on May 30, 2026 where families are welcome to come to campus for program specific tours, meet staff and get ready to kick off camp! More information will be provided closer to the start of camp. Outside of this designated time Potomac's campus access is restricted to invited guests only.

Can my camper bring their favorite toy to camp?
What is your policy on cell phone/electronic usage at camp?
We strongly discourage campers from bringing in cell phones, smartwatches and earbuds to camp. If a camper does have a cell phone, smartwatch and/or earbuds, it must be turned off and kept in their backpack at all times while at camp. Campers are permitted to use these devices for the end of day communication only, after 2:45 pm. Campers enrolled in Potomac Debate camp that ends at 4:00 pm, and/or Potomac Plus AM and/or Potomac Plus PM and/or Elite Sports Camp may not use cell phones, smartwatch and/or earbuds while attending the program.
We kindly ask parents to help us enforce this no-camp-use policy by not calling or texting their children on their personal devices during the camp day. This simple act will eliminate their worry about missing a call or text. If a parent needs to contact their child, they should contact the camp office, and we will make sure these messages are shared. Campers may not take pictures and/or video with their cell phones, post any photos and/or videos on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc, or record audio on devices. Loss of or damage to any cell phone, smart watches, earbuds and other electronic devices is not the responsibility of Summer@Potomac.
Summer@Potomac reserves the right to terminate a camper’s enrollment without a refund if a camper misuses an electronic device, including cell phone, smart watches and earbuds.
Do you take photos/videos of campers?
Yes. Summer@Potomac staff may take photos and videos of activities for use in school communications, publications, and social media. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Threads to see all the fun!
Families who do not wish their camper to be photographed must email summer@potomacschool.org with a written request and include a current photo of their camper, which is required to ensure the request is followed.

We knew our son was in great hands and he was excited to wake up every morning to go to camp.
